Aug. 12 Part 3 of the Structural Building Components Training Series presented by Josh Bartlett Installation, Inspection and Field Repair of Trusses and Engineered Components, www.sbca.org. Norwich University, Northfield, VT. The agenda and details are still under development. Nov. 11 Open date. Dec. 2 Building Product Education: Structural Wood to Wood Fasteners. Home Builders & Remodelers of Vermont, Williston, VT, 12 noon to 1:30 pm. $15 fee covers lunch and presentation. BSA-VT Member fee covered by sponsor. This course is designed to provide building code administrators, plans examiners, inspectors, design professionals and contractors with 1.5 hour of building code training. The course provides an overview of the fastening and connection requirements for wood structural members to resist the loads imposed in residential wood frame construction. This 1.5 hr. course is designed to increase the participants technical skills and their ability to: · Locate specific sections of the applicable code sections as listed in Ch. 3, 5 & 6 of the Vermont Building Code. · Locate specific sections of the AF&PA Wood Frame Construction Manual WFCM as applicable. · Understand the procedures involved in determining the imposed loads and selection of the appropriate fastener. · Locate and understand the code requirements for specific wood frame construction structural connections.
